Charity Golf Day goes with a Swing

Monday, May 16, 2011
Ok so "goes with a swing" isn't the most original title for a golf story, but it does describe the fantastic day enjoyed by Railston clients, suppliers and staff at the Celtic Manor on Friday 13th. The charity event was held to raise money for The Mustard Tree Macmillan centre at Plymouth Hospital, funds are still being totalled and we will post the final amount in the next few days. The golfers were lucky enough to play the Ryder Cup Twenty Ten Course and competition was fierce from the start. There were some cracking shots, good-humoured banter with drinks and food following the main event.

The individual winner was Railston project manager, Mike McKenna.

The winning team was High & Mighty

The other winners were:
Longest drive - John Haney
Nearest the pin - Reg Prim
Shot of horror - Chris Hyrb

Thanks to Reg Prim and Irena Windslow for their efforts organising the day and to all those who played and gave generously to the charity.

Railston loves the ipad

Friday, April 15, 2011

Railston are always looking at how to do things better and recently the iPad has been trialled as an alternative to the laptop to use when out of the office. Numerous benfits have been identified, including faster communication and easier access to files. The iPad allows an enhanced view of documents and drawings when onsite and is easier and quicker to use than the laptop. There are a number of apps that will be used to bring these efficienies to life and, following a short trial period, these applications will be incorporated into standard working practices - Angry Birds is not one of them as yet...

As a result  we decided to alter our animation in the reception area to resemble that of an iPad advert. The animation not only welcomes quests but gives them something good to look at whilst waiting, not to mention it keeps them up to date with our newest projects such as Azendi, JD Sports, Everything Everywhere and High and Mighty. Here are a few screen grabs, but for a better look just drop in for a visit!

A ghost at Azendi One New Change?

Check out this picture below which was taken during a photo shoot of the Azendi site in One New Change.

This is 100% genuine and clearly a little bit spooky. Any suggestions?

Railston: Shopfitting through the Ages

Friday, February 25, 2011
As we hope you're aware we've been around for quite some time now, 28 years in November to be exact! We also hope you're aware that we've just updated our corporate image. So just for fun we thought we'd make a little scrap book showing a few historic Railston images... Or as we're calling it "Railston through the ages". It's just for fun and we must admit that some of the older sites, though great at the time, seen rather comical with hindsight. The hairdressers in particular, though very up to date at the time, looks like some amazing set from the breakfast club! ( I must admit I actually quite like it!) But it does show how much we've come along as a company and how much the industry and fashions have changed. We rejoice in our history and just wanted to share it with you, so enjoy.

To see the images bigger just click the one below.. and enjoy.. We certainly did!

First Everything Everywhere Altrincham Opens

Thursday, February 17, 2011
Everything Everywhere's first trial store launched today in Altrincham and was fitted by Railston.

Here's a snippet about Everything Everywhere from their website:

"Everything Everywhere, Britain’s biggest communications company, today announced the launch of five new trial stores, designed to engage consumers with a “21st century retail experience”.

- Orange and T-Mobile products, services and accessories sold in new retail environment
- Unique interactive “inspire, excite and educate” experience created to engage consumers
- The stores, the first of which goes live in Altrincham on the 18th February, will enable customers to get closer to the products of the Everything Everywhere brands – Orange and T-Mobile – in a way that no other mobile retailer allows."

We are so delighted to be involved and think the visual by The One Off is wonderful.

Here's a link to Everything Everywhere's article and a You Tube link to the store walk through:
